Rick Ross - Mastermind (Review)


"Mastermind" is the sixth studio album by Maybach Music Group founder Rick Ross. The album features guest appearances from Jay Z, Kanye West, Jeezy, Diddy, Lil Wayne, French Montana and others as well as production from Mike Will Made It, The Weeknd, Kanye West and others. It is set to be released on March 4th, 2014 via Maybach Music Group, Slip-n-Slide Records and Def Jam Recordings.

DUS - Casino (feat. Roc Marciano)

Hip-hop producer DUS comes through with some visuals for his track "Casino", which features Hempstead emcee Roc Marciano. The song is one of my favorite cuts off of the New Jersey based producers latest album, "Ambassadors", which you can pick up on over to www.dusjustblazed.com.

MindsOne and Kev Brown - Equinox (Video)

MindsOne (consisting of emcees KON Sci and Tronic) recently teamed back up with Low Budget Crew producer Kev Brown to drop some visuals for the first single from their upcoming "Pillars" EP. The song is called "Equinox" and features both emcees spitting fire over an ill piano sample looped up over boom-bap drums that are sure to get your head nodding. "Pillars" will feature a guest appearance from Homeboy Sandman and will be available on April 1st via Ill Adrenaline Records. For now, though, you can head on over to iTunes and preorder it after peepin' the video below.



Dali Darko - Flowers For Dorian Gray

Pittsburgh emcee Dali Darko is back, this time with a new track called "Flowers For Dorian Gray" that features the 21-year old emcee kicking some rhymes over a dope Art Vandelay instrumental. The song was released in promotion of his upcoming debut mixtape, "The Romantic Egotist", which is set to drop in May.

eMC (Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline and Stricklin) - Spun A Web

Hip-hop collective eMC (composed of emcees Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline and Stricklin) recently came together to drop an ill track called "Spun A Web" over on their Soundcloud page. The song is produced by David E Beats and is just a taste of what is to be expected from their upcoming EP, which is set to be released some time in April. "Spun A Web" will not be featured on that EP, however, so this one can just be considered a loosie.

Ali Gaddafi - 7G

Ali Gaddafi is an up-and-coming hip-hop artist hailing from Prince Georges County, Maryland who recently dropped an ill track titled "7G". The song is potentially a cut from his upcoming "Rightful Successor" mixtape, which is slated to drop sometime this summer. According to Ali, "7G" was
"Heavily inspired by the struggles I endured over the summer of 2013. When I purposely kept myself away from a mic in order to further grow for better or worst. A time period I used to sit back & observe. Also too get my money up lol. I actually finished writing the lyrics for it on the plane from Washington, D.C. to FLA. I hate planes. But anyway. The track 7g is straight from the heart. Frustration, failure, struggle, hustling, success, progression, and determination all mixed into one song."
The beat should get your head nodding and the rhymes are dope. Hopefully the rest of the project is going to be just as good.

Manni Festo - Rap Is Not Pop (Video)

New Jersey rapper Manni Festo is back, this time with some visuals for his track "Rap Is Not Pop (Official PSA)." The song is meant to be "informative and noteworthy, especially to all you whack MCs holdin a mic, but not grippin it tight" and is a cut from his upcoming "Abstract Island" album, which should be dropping in late March. AG Fernandez - Popeyes (Single)

Bronx, NY emcee AG Fernandez is back, this time with his latest offering in the form of the track "Popeyes". The song is produced by Navie D and has a real smooth, golden era vibe to it that I'm definitely feelin'. Infinite and Norad - Violent Killa (Single)

Independent hip-hop recording artist Infinite dropped off the latest single from is upcoming "Westside Threat" mixtape and its pretty dope. The song is called "Violent Killa" and features the California based emcee teaming up with guest Norad as both emcees kick some rhymes over an ill Jesse James instrumental.

2nd Class Citizenz - Devil in Disguise (Video)

2nd Class Citizenz are a hip-hop trio hailing from the Isle of Wight that consists of Bobby Ballz, Budge, and DJ Leeboi. The group teamed up with De Facto Entertainment and released a five track EP, titled "The Route Of All Evil", back in January and its dope as hell. The lead single, "Devil In Disguise", got some visuals to go along with it to showcase the groups darker, gritty sound. Peep the video, as well as the full EP, below.



C-Rayz Walz - Stimuli (ft. L.I.F.E. Long, John Robinson and Jasiri X)

Bronx emcee C-Rayz Walz just dropped some visuals for the track "Stimuli", which is taken from his recently released album "Almighty: The Solar Facts". The song features guest appearances from L.I.F.E. Long (Stronghold), John Robinson and Jasiri X and is produced by Kentron The Mastodon. Check out the video, as well as the full album, below.



Onyx - We Don't Fuckin Care (ft. A$AP Ferg and Sean Price)

Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz team up with A$AP Ferg and Sean Price to drop the second single from their upcoming "WAKEDAFUCUP" album. The song is called "We Don't Fuckin Care" and features all four emcees spitting fire over a dope Snowgoons instrumental full of menacing pianos and head nodding drums. "WAKEDAFUCUP" is set to be released on March 9th.

Josh Bliss Lighten - Hallelujah (Video)

Massachusetts rapper Josh Bliss Lighten is back, this time with a video for his latest single, "Hallelujah", which features Josh kicking some heartfelt and introspective rhymes over a soulful DJ Dreamstate instrumental.
"I wrote this song after I found out my aunt was diagnosed with cancer and shot the video the day before I buried her next to my mother. It pretty much just sums up the type of emotions I was dealing with at that time."
The song is a cut off of his "Blessed Individual" project, which you can stream via his Bandcamp site.



SchoolBoy Q - Oxymoron (Review)

Schoolboy Q - Oxymoron (Real Hip-Hop)

"Oxymoron" is the third album from TDE emcee Schoolboy Q. The album features guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, SZA, Raekwon and others as well as production from Alchemist, Mike Will Made It, Nez & Rio, Pharrell and others. It is set to be released on February 25, 2014 via Top Dawg Entertainment and Interscope Records.

Supastition - Honest Living EP

Hip-hop veteran Supastition is back, this time with his full length "Honest Living" EP. The project is produced entirely by German producer Croup, who comes with a strong "golden era" vibe throughout the entire project. Lyrically the EP is just as strong, with Supastition documenting the struggles of finding a job in North Carolina's failing economy firsthand. Doesn't get much realer than that. Don't sleep on this.

Iron Braydz ft Prince Po - Millennium

North London emcee Iron Braydz teams up with Organized Konfusion's Prince Po as both emcees spit fire over a head nodding Daniel Taylor instrumental. The song, titled "Millennium", is a cut from the Triple Darkness emcees upcoming "Verbal sWARdz EP", which will be released on April 14th. The EP is set to feature guest appearances from Prince Po, Sean Price, Kyza, Skriblah and Triple Darkness and will be pretty much entirely self-produced. Very dope. Peep it below.

Dali Darko - Incantations for Butterfly Effects in DeadLights

Pittsburgh emcee Dali Darko comes through with an ill track, titled "Incantations for Butterfly Effects in DeadLights", that he posted up over on his SoundCloud page. This is my first time hearing anything from Dali, but he really impressed me on here, spitting some dope rhymes in an ill flow. He is currently working on his debut mixape and is aiming for an early May release. Hopefully the rest of the project sounds just as good as this track.

Brian to Earth - BTE GOT CHOPS (EP)

California emcee/producer Brian to Earth recently dropped an EP back on February 4th, 2014 via Hey WTF Records and it's pretty ill. The EP is called "BTE GOT CHOPS" and is just a way for Brian to showcase his skills as both an emcee and producer, since all tracks on the project were written, produced, mixed and mastered by Brian himself (with the exception of the featured emcees, Dex Amora and Mos Poetik, who each wrote their own lyrics). Benjo - BenFLOW (Mixtape)

Benjo is a 16 year old emcee who dropped his latest mixtape, "BenFLOW", back on February 7th, 2014. The project features the Maryland rapper kicking rhymes over a variety of classic instrumentals from producers such as DJ Premier and Nujabes to more original production from $keleton and OTM. The Doppelgangaz - Peace Kehd (Review)


"Peace Kehd" is the fourth studio album from New York hip-hop duo The Doppelgangaz (consisting of emcees/producers Matter Ov Fact and EP). The album features a guest appearance from Big Josh and is fully produced by The Doppelgangaz themselves. It was released on February 18, 2014 via Groggy Pack Entertainment.

Currensy - The Drive In Theatre (Review)


"The Drive In Theatre" is the latest mixtape from New Orleans emcee Currensy. The tape features guest appearances from Action Bronson, Le$, B-Real (of Cypress Hill), Freddie Gibbs, Fiend, Smoke DZA and others as well as production from Thelonious Martin, Cardo, Cookin' Soul and others. It was released on February 14, 2014 for free over on DatPiff.com.

Currensy - The Drive In Theatre (Mixtape)

Currensy just blessed us with his latest mixape, "The Drive In Theatre", which you can stream or download via the DatPiff link below. The mixtape features guest appearances from Action Bronson, Le$, B-Real (of Cypress Hill), Freddie Gibbs, Fiend, Smoke DZA and others as well as production from Thelonious Martin, Cardo, Cookin' Soul and others. I haven't given it a full listen yet, but what I have heard was fire.

The Doppelgangaz - KnowntchooTahLie (Video) and Peace Kehd (Album Stream)

New York duo The Doppelgangaz are back again, this time with the second single from their upcoming album "Peace Kehd." The single is called "KnowntchooTahLie" and features Matter Ov Fact and EP kicking some rhymes about older women over a darker instrumental with some sinister synths and hard hitting bass. "Peace Kehd" is set to drop on February 18th, but is currently available for streaming below.



Supastition - Eardrum (Single)

Hip-hop veteran Supastition comes through with the latest single from his upcoming "Honest Living" EP and the shit is banging. The song is called "Eardrum" and features the North Carolina emcee spitting fire over a head nodding instrumental with an ill "golden era" feel. The EP is entirely produced by Croup (hailing from Germany) and will be made available on February 18th, 2014 via his Bandcamp page. For now, peep the single below.

The Cypher Effect - ROCK-OH! (Mic Check Session) and Shane Kidd (Hans Dieter X)

The Cypher Effect returns yet again, this time with a "MIC CHECK" session from ROCK-OH! as well as a new video from Shane Kid. The first video is for the ROCK-OH!' session and features the emcee performing a track called "Ying and Yang" off his upcoming "Balance" project. The song is produced by Junio and its very dope.



Next up is a video from Shane Kidd of Atlanta, GA, who teams up with producer Rice Master Yen for this song titled "Hans Dieter X".

Young Planet - New Fast Automatic (Album)

Brooklyn based hip-hop duo Young Planet (comprised of rapper Cidida and producer Eibol) recently released their debut album, "New Fast Automatic," and its quite dope. Their sound is kind of a mix of many different elements, from old school boom-bap beats with socially conscious lyrics to live instrumentation and some soulful singing. A few days ago, Onyx (consisting of emcees Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz) debuted the audio version of the title track/lead single from their upcoming "WAKEDAFUCUP" album. Midnight Collective movement emcee Fab Soares is back yet again, this time with some visuals for his track "Underdog Music." As should be expected, the video features the London rapper kicking some dope rhymes over a soulful boom-bap instrumental. Very nice.

Jason Anthony - Tax Free Volume 4 (Valentines Day Edition)

Jason Anthony (formerly Jay Sinificance) returns with his latest project, "Tax Free Volume 4 (Valentines Day Edition)", which features the West Chester, PA emcee sharing some tracks revolving around the theme of relationships and their ups & downs. The Cypher Effect (Mic Check Sessions) - Gremlin and Sage One

The Cypher Effect comes through with two videos from their new "MIC CHECK" sessions, this time showcasing TCE Alumnis Gremlin and Sage One. The first session is for Gremlin, who drops an unreleased song off of his upcoming album, "Gremland 2". The song is titled "Style Of Mind" and was produced by Hala X.



The second video features Sage One as he showcases a track from his latest project, "Similar Soulz". The song is titled "Frustrated" and is produced by Lawnmoher.

Onyx - WAKEDAFUCUP (Single)

Hip-hop veterans Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz reunite to drop the first single from their upcoming "WAKEDAFUCUP" album. The song is the title track off the album and features Dope D.O.D. (out of the Netherlands) with production by The Snowgoons. "WAKEDAFUCUP" is set to be released on March 9th.

Matt Maddox - Righteous Fury (Review)


"Righteous Fury" is the second album from Kansas emcee Matt Maddox. The album features guest appearances from Tragedy Khadafi, King Magnetic, Reef The Lost Cauze and others as well as production from C-Lance, Skammadix, Sicknature and others. It is set to be released on February 25, 2014 via Red Phone Records and Seven 13 Music.

GMGOmusic Presents: SK The Greatest

SK The Greatest is a producer from Boston who is currently residing in Austin, TX and who recently dropped a full length album, "GMGOmusic presents: SK The Greatest", back in January. The album features over 20 different artists from 5 different states and is fully produced by SK The Greatest himself. The project is full of blazing boom-bap-inspired instrumentals that kept my head nodding the whole time while the lyrics and rhymes from all of the feature emcees were definitely on point. Hobo Truffles Presents - Ode to Ghana (Album)

Hobo Truffles (Robot Orchestra and Shuffle Jack) come through with a compilation album titled "Ode to Ghana", which includes instrumental tracks by Ben Bada Boom, Boost Phillis, GHprodu, J. Vibes, Robot Orchestra, Shuffle Jack and many others.
"This collective of known and unknown Artists is aiming to pay tribute to highlife and afro-jazz music from Ghana. The project is based entirely on samples from this region."
I'm really feelin' the unique sound and vibe of the album. Dope shit.

Mack Jones - Invest in the Movement (Video)

Mack Jones is a rap group from VA consisting of emcee/producer Poe Mack and emcee/DJ Case Jones who recently dropped a video for their track "Invest in the Movement", which is the first single from their "Barzilla" album. The song is produced by KBEE da Original and is a good indication of the vibe and feel of the rest of the album. Check out the video, as well as the full album, below.



Prez P - Celebration (Video)

Miami emcee Prez P is back again, this time with a video for the track "Celebration" off of his latest album, "The Ambiance." Like many of the songs on the album, the song has a real laid-back vibe to it that meshes nicely with Prez P's mellow flow. Check out the video, as well as the full album, below.



Vita Et Mors - The One Day Hypothesis (EP)

Vita Et Mors is back, this time with his recently released "The One Day Hypothesis" EP. The project features the 18 year old emcee spitting rhymes over ill boom-bap instrumentals that should get your head nodding right out the gate. The sweet thing about the EP is that all five songs were written and recorded over the course of just 24 hours. Nice. Peep it below.

Willie The Kid featuring Roc Marciano - Avalon (prod. by Bronze Nazareth)

Willie The Kid (who released one of 2013's best mixtapes with his "Aquamarine" project) and Wu-Tang affiliate Bronze Nazareth are dropping a collaborative album, titled "The Living Daylights", on February 11, 2014. The duo just released another cut from the album, "Avalon", that features Hempstead emcee Roc Marciano and its dope as hell. I have a feeling this album is going to be straight fire.

Fortunato - Stop It (Video)

Toronto emcee Fortunato just dropped off some visuals for the latest release from his "Unseen Armada" album that dropped back in January. The video is for the song "Stop It" and features guest vocals from Ghettosocks with production by Fresh Kils. Check out the video, as well as the full album, below.



AWKWORD - World View (Album)

New York rapper AWKWORD finally released his long awaited studio album, "World View", a few days ago and this whole project is dope. The album features guest appearances from Chaundon, Joell Ortiz, KRS-One, REKS, Sean Price, Slug (of Atmosphere) and others as well as production from Amin PaYnE, Dismas, Dominant1, Domingo, Harry Fraud, Numonics and Steel Tipped Dove. The project also has a strong and positive message behind it -
"World View is the First-Ever 100% For-Charity Global Hip Hop Project, sponsored by DJBooth.net and The Morgan Stanley Foundation. Featuring contributions from SIX (6) Continents and NINETEEN (19) Countries, showcasing our interconnectedness created through Hip Hop culture and rap music. Seattle emcee Dex Amora released his sophomore project "HerbsPenSoul" a few days back and its quite dope. The album has a strong "golden era" vibe to it, with Dex Amora spitting "tales of his thoughts & experiences of life" over a variety of head nodding, jazzy instrumentals. Dope shit. Peep it below.

Slum Pritt - Awake For The Nightmare (Album)

Greensboro, NC emcee Slum Pritt returns, this time with his latest album, "Awake For The Nightmare." The album features production from Chief Sun Eye (1/2 of Tru Chemistree), HP tha Hybrid, Joe Burn Em, Shade Cobain and re:source.
"The album title has a few meanings: 1) the rap game is about to be awake to this nightmare, the nightmare being me  2) The type of person i am, young, black, militant with my head on straight, is a nightmare to Amerikkka, 3) Society is a nightmare itself, with all the senseless killings and disgusting stories you hear everyday, and we all are awake for it."

The Chase - The Wake Up Call

The Chase is a hip-hop group based out of Atlanta, GA that consists of emcee Paul Jones, emcee/producer Murphy II and producer Jamal Press and who's sound "is an homage to the original roots of hip hop that includes messages of peace, love and positivity over soulful samples and beats." The group released their latest full length project, "The Wake Up Call", back in July of 2013 and recently sent over two tracks from the album. The first is called "The Invitation" and features The Chase kicking some love raps over a smooth instrumental while Britne Dionne provides the chorus.



Nice.

The second track is called "Blind Side" and features Paul Jones, Murphy II and guest J. Alston just spitting some darts over a bouncy Jamal Press instrumental. Very dope.

The Band Called FUSE - Soul Rock Anthem (Video)

The Band Called FUSE is "a diverse group of hip hop, rock and soul performers from radically different backgrounds that is changing the face of New York’s underground music scene and aiming for national prime time." The group recently released a video for the track "Soul Rock Anthem", which is a single from their upcoming EP "Impossible Dream." The song blends a high-octane rock instrumental with dope rhymes and soulful vocals and acts as a good teaser for the full EP. Very nice. Peep the video below.

Tall Tale Medicine Machine - Shoe String Theory (feat. Denmark Vessey)

Tall Tale Medicine Machine is a hip-hop collective coming out of Chicago that combines both live and studio instrumentation to deliver some very experimental beats. The group is lead by composer/producer Blacktop Megaphone and can feature up to 16 different instrumentalists on a single track. They recently released the second single off of their upcoming self-titled LP, which is due to be released on April 22nd. The song is called "Shoe String Theory" and features rapper/producer Denmark Vessey doing this thing over the somewhat somber instrumental provided by Tall Tale Medicine Machine. Dope.
